Atlanta-based Resurgens Orthopaedics has partnered with New York City-based private equity firm Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe to build an orthopedic platform.
Resurgens CEO Alex Bateman will lead the new company, and the entity will be physician-owned, according to a Dec. 9 news release.
"As one of the largest and most respected orthopaedic practices in the country, Resurgens Orthopaedics is the perfect founding partner for our new venture," WCAS general partner Sean Traynor said in the release. "Resurgens Orthopaedics' commitment to best-in-class clinical quality together with our resources and capital investment will enable the company to deliver exceptional care to more patients nationally."
WCAS has been behind other physician ventures, including United Surgical Partners International, US Oncology and US Anesthesia Partners. Resurgens Orthopaedics is the largest orthopedic practice in Georgia with almost 100 physicians who serve patients across 24 locations.
