William Vollmar, MD, a former Lancaster County sports medicine doctor, was sentenced to nine and a half to 20 years in prison, according to the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office.

Dr. Vollmar worked as a sports medicine physician at Diamantoni and Associates Family Practice from July 1992 to April 2019, the Nov. 12 release said. He pleaded no contest to sexual assault, institutional sexual assault and indecent assault of former patients.

There were six victims, some under 18, the release said. Dr. Vollmar would abuse the patients during exams or "sports massages."

Along with his sentence, Dr. Vollmar will have to surrender his medical practice license and register as a sex offender, the release said.
