Hoag opens advanced imaging center at neuroscience institute

Newport Beach, Calif.-based Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian opened the Hoag Center for Advanced Visualization and Immersive Therapeutics at Hoag's Pickup Family Neurosciences Institute.

Robert Louis, MD, chief of neurosurgery at Hoag, leads the center, according to an Oct. 1 news release. The center houses dedicated spaces to research, develop and implement experiential reality technology. XR encompasses virtual, augmented and mixed reality.

The center also has a therapy treatment room and a theater to enable virtual fly-through experiences for surgery patients.
