NASS recognizes Dr. Frank Phillips

The North American Spine Society awarded Frank Phillips, MD, with the 2021 Leon Wiltse Award, according to a news release shared with Becker's on Oct. 5.

The Leon Wiltse Award is given to one spine surgeon each year and recognizes excellence in leadership and research in spine care.

Dr. Phillips, of Chicago-based Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, has worked for more than 20 years and is a prolific researcher. He's been a leader in minimally invasive spine surgery and helped develop many widely adopted techniques, according to the release.

He's a professor and has trained more than 50 spine fellows. At Midwest Orthopaedics, he's director of the minimally invasive spine surgery section and spine surgery division.
