Here are five prominent surgeons in the field of sports medicine:

Jeffrey Dugas, MD. Orthopedic Surgeon at Andrews Sports Medicine (Birmingham, Ala.). Dr. Dugas serves as medical director for USA Cheer and associate medical director for World Wrestling Entertainment. In November, he performed two surgeries on actor and WWE wrestler John Cena.

Neal ElAttrache, MD. Orthopedic Surgeon at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic (Los Angeles). Dr. ElAttrache is the head team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Rams. He also serves as an orthopedic consultant to the Los Angeles Kings, Los Angeles Lakers and Anaheim Ducks. He recently performed an ACL repair for Minnesota Vikings player T.J. Hockenson.

Keith Meister, MD. Director of Sports Medicine at the Texas Metroplex Institute for Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery (Arlington): Dr. Meister is the head team physician for the Texas Rangers. He recently performed shoulder surgery on Kendall Graveman, a pitcher for the Houston Astros in Dallas.

James Voos, MD. Chair of the Orthopedics Departments at University Hospitals and Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland). Dr. Voos serves as the head physician for the Cleveland Browns. In 2023, he received the NFL Physicians Society's Arthur C. Rettig Award for Academic Excellence, which is awarded to an NFL team physician for academic excellence in research in advancing the health and safety of players.

William Workman, MD. Head Team Physician for the Oakland Athletics. In addition to his role as head physician, Dr. Workman also serves as adjunct clinical associate professor in the department of orthopedic surgery at Stanford (Calif.) University. He recently performed knee surgery on Sean Newcomb, a pitcher for the Oakland Athletics, at the Webster Surgery Center in Oakland, Calif.
