Dr. Keith Meister operates on Boston Red Sox pitcher

Keith Meister, MD, performed Tommy John elbow surgery on Boston Red Sox pitcher Wyatt Mills, according to a July 5 news release from mlb.com. 

The procedure was to reconstruct Mr. Mills' right ulnar collateral ligament in the elbow. 

Mr. Mills has not pitched this season due to inflammation in his right shoulder, according to a July 6 report by Sports Illustrated.

The surgery was performed at the Texas Metroplex Institute for Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery in Arlington, the release said. 

Dr. Meister is the director of sports medicine at the Texas Metroplex Institute and is the head team physician for the Texas Rangers, another MLB team.
