David Homesley, MD, chair of the orthopedic department at Charlotte, N.C.-based Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, is set to complete his 1,000th robotic-assisted knee replacement procedure using Stryker's Mako robot, according to a June 29 email sent to Becker's.
The surgery is set to take place on June 30. Dr. Homesley is reaching the milestone less than five years after acquiring a Mako robot at the practice. He now coaches younger colleagues in its use.
The 62-year-old patient Dr. Homesley will complete the procedure on is traveling three hours from Raleigh, N.C. for the surgery.
