Iowa hospital gets hip, knee replacement certification

UnityPoint Health Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa, became the first hospital in the state to get DNV hip and knee replacement certification, The Messenger News reported July 22.

DNV hip and knee replacement certification is earned based on guidelines from the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. It recognizes excellence in patient care and outcomes.

"This certification tells our community that we have the resources and commitment to provide excellence in care for Hip and Knee replacement," Leah Glasgo, president and CEO of UnityPoint Health -Fort Dodge said. "It's a combination of the right equipment, personnel and training to exhibit excellence in orthopedic surgery within the scope of hip and knee replacement and related procedures. Achieving certification validates all the effort we have put into this program to ensure the health and safety of our patients."
