The Joint Commission awarded Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett (Tenn.) its Gold Seal of Approval for total hip, total knee and spine surgeries, the hospital announced Jan. 3.
Four things to know:
1. Saint Francis-Bartlett is the area's only hospital with all three certifications. Only one other hospital in the state has all three.
2. During a two-day on-site review in late October, a reviewer from The Joint Commission evaluated Saint Francis-Bartlett's compliance with related standards, observed practices and conducted interviews.
3. The Gold Seal certification is awarded to healthcare organizations that demonstrate a commitment to providing safe and quality patient care. It focuses on the whole spectrum of orthopedic care.
4. In the past year, specialists performed 615 spine and joint replacement surgeries at Saint Francis-Bartlett.
