This year marks the 15th anniversary of orthobiologic physician group Regenexx.
Five things to know:
1. Christopher Centeno, MD, and John Schultz, MD, founded the company in 2005 with the idea of using stem cells to treat orthopedic injuries.
2. In 2007, Drs. Centeno and Schultz completed a two-year research study on the use of culture-expanded and same-day stem cells to treat knee and hip arthritis as well as lumbar degenerative disc disease.
3. Regenexx Corporate is the only program where orthobiologics can get coverage through private health insurance plans, according to the company.
4. The company has treated 40,000 patients and performed more than 90,000 procedures.
5. Regenexx has more than 60 worldwide affiliates, including centers in India, Australia, the U.K. and China.
