Larry T. Khoo, MD, and Payman R. Emmanuel, MD, performed the first two surgical cases with Amplify Surgical's dualX Dual Expanding Interbody Fusion System.

Five things to know:

1. Drs. Khoo and Emmanuel performed two lateral lumbar interbody fusion procedures with the dualX at Los Angeles-based Good Samaritan Hospital

2. Dr. Khoo also performed a two-level transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion procedure with two dualX devices. "The dualX device was simple to implant and provided for a solid fusion foundation with its bi-planar expansion," said Dr. Khoo. "We first expanded dualX horizontally to maximize the footprint, and then we expanded the implant vertically to provide disc height restoration with lordosis."

3. The dualX titanium expandable interbody devices are designed to be implanted in lateral lumbar interbody fusion, posterior lumbar interbody fusion and TLIF spinal procedures.

4. The dualX portfolio contains varying footprints, heights and degrees of lordosis with post-expansion bone grafting. It is designed to restore disc height and sagittal alignment in lumbar spinal fusion procedures.

5. The dualX Dual Expanding Interbody Fusion System is in early release and is available to a select group of U.S. spine surgeons. Amplify Surgical anticipates a general release during the second quarter of 2019.
