Nanovis receives patent for nanotechnology implant: 3 details

Surface Technology

Nanovis entered a licensing agreement with Reno-based University of Nevada to receive a patent for its nanotechnology implant.

Here are three things to know:

1. The patent will allow development of ceramics for medical implants with nanosurfacing that enhances cell binding and drug delivery depending on implantation purpose.

2. The ceramic nanosurfacing technology offers a range of spinal implant nanosurfaces designed to increase bone to implant growth.

3. With the nanosurface pores' ability to change size and shape, the implant is designed so the ceramic coating can release drugs over an extended period.
