The Detroit Pistons and Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System will open the William Clay Ford Center for Athletic Medicine sports performance center in October, Crain's Detroit Business reports.

What you should know:

1. The 54,000-square-foot sports medicine complex is part of the Henry Ford Detroit Pistons Performance Center.

2. A team of 50 physicians, nurses, trainers and rehabilitation specialists will staff the center, catering to both professional and amateur athletes.

3. The center expects to open for patients Oct. 15.

4. The Henry Ford Detroit Pistons Performance Center is 239,000 square feet. It cost $127 million to develop and will eventually serve as the headquarters for the Pistons.
