Orthopedic Sports Medicine

Three University of Iowa sports medicine team physicians are headed to the 2020 Olympics, reports The Daily Iowan.

Mederic M. Hall, MD, Britt Marcussen, MD, and Andrew Peterson, MD, have volunteered to work with Olympic athletes in the past and will do so again for the 2020 games. The Iowa City-based physicians also take care of the University of Iowa's collegiate athletes.

Dr. Peterson has been involved in USA Wrestling for seven years, while Dr. Hall and Dr. Marcussen have cared for the USA ski and triathlon athletes.

The sports medicine team travels to Colorado every three to four years for a training camp.

Director of Sports Medicine Brian Wolf supports working with the Olympic athletes because the opportunity provides great experience for UI physicians.
