Daniel Sciubba, MD, has left Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins University for New York.

Northwell Health, based in New Hyde Park, named Dr. Sciubba senior vice president and chair of neurosurgery at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell April 1. He is also now the chair of the neurosurgery department at the system's North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center, succeeding Raj Narayan, MD, who will become chair emeritus.

Dr. Sciubba will also be co-director of Northwell's Institute for Neurology and Neurosurgery alongside Soubel Najjar, MD.

"After an extensive national search, we are delighted to appoint Dr. Sciubba to lead the health system's neurosurgery service line," said Lawrence Smith, MD, executive vice president and physician-in-chief at Northwell.

Before his appointment, Dr. Sciubba was director of spinal tumor and deformity surgery at Johns Hopkins University and director of the system's multidisciplinary spinal oncology board and clinic. He has written more than 500 peer-reviewed papers and edited three books.

Dr. Sciubba earned his medical degree from the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University and completed two complex spine fellowships at Johns Hopkins University and Shriners Hospital in Philadelphia.
