5 spine surgeons in new leadership positions in 2020

Here are five spine and neurosurgeons who have accepted new leadership positions so far this year:

1. Daniel Yoshor, MD, was appointed chair of the department of neurosurgery in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, effective July 1.

2. Frank Schwab, MD, was appointed vice chair of the New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery Innovation Institute.

3. Miami-based Baptist Health South Florida hired Michael McDermott, MD, as CMO of Miami Neuroscience Institute.

4. Brain and Spine Surgeons of New York in Harrison appointed Virany Hillard, MD, as medical director.

5. Elizabeth Tyler-Kabara, MD, was appointed chief of pediatric neurosurgery at Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas in Austin.
