Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts designated Hyannis, Mass.-based Cape Cod Hospital a Blue Distinction Center for Spine Surgery, The Barnstable Patriot reports.

The distinction shows the center has a commitment to quality, and that its physicians demonstrate expertise in several procedures, including:

  • Cervical laminectomy

  • Lumbar laminectomy/discectomy

Centers with the distinction are typically 20 percent more cost-effective per episode of care when compared to other centers.
