Molly Hubbard, MD, died following a Jan. 7 avalanche at the Silver Mountain ski resort in Kellogg, Idaho, reports Fox 12 Oregon.

Dr. Hubbard was a pediatric neurosurgeon at Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland, as part of Oregon Health & Science University.

She was named the third of three victims of the natural disaster after her body was discovered Jan. 9 in a search and rescue effort that included more than 140 volunteers.

Dr. Hubbard completed her neurosurgery residency at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis last year and recently accepted the position of assistant professor of pediatric neurosurgery at OHSU.

Nathan Selden, MD, chair of the department of neurosurgery at OHSU provided the following statement

"Molly Hubbard was a superlative physician and surgeon with exceptional judgment, technical skills and deep compassion for her patients and colleagues. She was also an extraordinary human being who was loved and valued by all who knew her. Molly's loss is unfathomable to her friends, her family, our community at OHSU, and to myself as her mentor. We will do our best to honor her extraordinary character."
