Neurosurgeon Dr. Werner Edmund Fritz Langheim dies

Werner Edmund Fritz Langheim, MD, PhD, died aged 90 on July 29, reports Madison.

Dr. Langheim was born in Berlin in 1928 and earned his medical degree and doctorate at the University of Hamburg in Germany before moving to the U.S.

He completed an internship at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kan., with a Fulbright travel grant and completed a residency in neurosurgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

Dr. Langheim completed further neurosurgical training at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals in Madison and became chief of neurosurgical services at Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Shorewood Hills, Wis.

He went on to establish his own private practice in neurology and neurosurgery in Madison in 1970 and ran it until his retirement.
