Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Ark., earned the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for advanced certification in spine surgery, according to a Jan. 22 announcement at KNWA.
This makes the hospital one of two in the state to earn the certification, Larry Armstrong, DO, chief of neurosurgery and spine, said in the news release.
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock is the other hospital in Arkansas to earn the Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval.
The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval recognizes spine surgery protocols and patient outcomes, and hospitals are vetted through an unannounced visit.
