Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Nicholas Theodore of Johns Hopkins Medicine

Nicholas Theodore, MD, is a board-certified neurosurgeon and the director of the Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins Neurosurgical Spine Center.

Dr. Theodore specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery, robotics and brain and spinal cord injury. He serves as a neurosurgery professor at Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.

He received his medical degree from Washington, D.C.-based Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his neurosurgical residency and spine surgery fellowship training at the Phoenix-based Barrow Neurological Institute.

Dr. Theodore has written or co-authored 30 book chapters and more than 180 peer-reviewed journal articles. His research interests include trauma, spinal cord injuries, robotics and the genetic and molecular basis of spinal diseases. He co-holds 10 patents for medical devices and procedures.
