Dr. Jason Tinley performs 1st case with Prodisc C Vivo in US

Jason Tinley, MD, completed the first commercial case with Centinel Spine's Prodisc C Vivo, the devicemaker said Sept. 7.

Dr. Tinley, founder of Fort Worth, Texas-based DFW Center for Spinal Disorders, performed the case on a patient with severe left-side neck pain and a left disc herniation, according to a news release.

"Having the intraoperative options of a convex dome with spikes (Prodisc C Vivo) versus a flat endplate component with keel gave me the modularity to maximize endplate contact and stability," Dr. Tinley said in the release. "Ultimately, this allows me to best restore motion while also minimizing risk."

Prodisc C Vivo, along with two other Prodisc devices, earned FDA approval in July, according to a news release. The device has been used internationally since 2009 and is one of the most used total disc replacement devices outside the U.S.
