Washington hospital now offering robotic spine surgery

Federal Way, Wash.-based St. Francis Hospital recently added robotic spine surgery to its list of services, reports P&T Community.

Robotic spine surgery helps spine surgeons accurately position pedicle screws.

Surgeons can use the technology to preoperatively plan procedures. 

Recent studies have demonstrated robotic spine surgery's ability to reduce radiation exposure and decrease OR time.

The hospital is part of Tacoma, Wash. -based CHI Franciscan, which offers robotic-assisted surgery in several specialties throughout its facilities, including orthopedics, bariatrics, urology and gynecology.
