Zimmer Biomet's Identity shoulder system received FDA clearance, the devicemaker said Sept. 20.

The convertible system is used for anatomic, reverse and revision shoulder replacement, according to a news release from the company. It is designed to help surgeons align their approach to each patient's anatomy.

"The Identity Shoulder System was designed to help surgeons restore center of rotation and achieve optimal range of motion after reverse shoulder replacements, a main goal of these procedures," Willam Levine, MD, a member of the device's development team said in the release. "Shoulder specialists will value this system's adaptability and flexibility to support their unique surgical approaches and complement diverse patient anatomies."
