Penn Medicine extends hospital partnership that upped orthopedic surgeries 20%

    Alan Condon -

Philadelphia-based Penn Medicine and Sellersville, Pa.-based Grand View Health have expanded their strategic partnership to develop specialty services through 2027.

The partnership, formed in August 2018, strengthened orthopedics, neurosciences, trauma and cancer programs at Grand View Health and provides specialty care to patients closer to home, according to a June 7 news release.

Core achievements include a 20 percent increase in orthopedic surgeries, a 27 percent boost in orthopedic office visits and a 25 percent uptick in radiation oncology services, Penn Medicine said.

Fifty-eight Penn Medicine physicians also joined the staff at Grand View Hospital, representing about 15 percent of the hospital's physicians.

"Over the first four years of our alliance with Grand View Health, patients in Bucks and Montgomery counties have had access to the highest level of healthcare right in their own community," Kevin Mahoney, CEO of the University of Pennsylvania Health System, said in the release. "As much as possible, we're focused on meeting the patient's needs and their family's needs close to where they live. Together, we're giving patients as many options as possible."
