Edward Akelman, MD. University Orthopedics (Providence, R.I.). Dr. Akelman earned his medical degree at the Dartmouth Geisel School of Medicine in Hanover, N.H. He completed his residency at Yale New Haven (Conn.) Hospital and his fellowship at Roosevelt Hospital in New York City, now known as Mount Sinai. He is president of University Orthopedics.

Keith Chan, MD. California Pacific Orthopaedics (San Francisco). Dr. Chan earned his medical degree at Stanford (Calif.) University. He completed his residency at the New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City, now known as the NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital. He completed his fellowship at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute in Los Angeles. He has served as an associate instructor for the Arthroscopy Association of North America and has published several articles and book chapters.

Douglas Dietzel, DO. McLaren Health Care (Grand Blanc, Mich.). Dr. Dietzel earned his medical degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Warren, Mich., and his fellowship at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing, Mich. He is the clinical director of sports medicine and head team orthopedic surgeon for the MSU department of intercollegiate athletics.

Christopher Dougherty, DO. Agility Center Orthopedics (Bentonville, Ark.). Dr. Dougherty's specialties include minimally invasive hip arthroscopies, meniscus repairs and Regeneten rotator cuff repairs. He is the team physician for the Kansas City Royals and the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.

Evan Flatow, MD. Mount Sinai (New York City). Dr. Flatow earned his medical degree at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed a residency at Roosevelt Hospital in New York City, now known as Mount Sinai. He also completed a residency and fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York City. He is president of Mount Sinai West in New York City.

David Hirsh, MD. Montefiore Medical Center (New York City). Dr. Hirsh earned his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, where he also completed a residency. He has been given a Best Doctors Award from New York Magazine and has been named a top doctor by Castle Connolly, a healthcare provider directory.

David Laverty, MD. Texas Orthopedics Sports and Rehabilitation Associates (Austin). Dr. Laverty earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He completed his residency with the Summit Health System in Akron, Ohio, and his fellowship at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C. He has been named a top doctor by Castle Connolly and Austin Monthly Magazine.

Eric Lee, MD. Oak Orthopedics (Frankfort, Ill.). Dr. Lee earned his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. He completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine in Rochester, Minn., and a fellowship at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. He is the team physician for multiple schools and has spoken at local, national and international conferences.

David Rojer, MD. Union County Orthopaedic Group (Linden, N.J.). Dr. Rojer earned his medical degree at the New York University School of Medicine in New York City. He completed his residency at Columbia University's St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City, which is now Mount Sinai Morningside. He completed his fellowship at Stanford (Calif.) University. He is currently the medical director of the joint replacement center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway in New Jersey.

Brian Werner, MD. UVA Health (Charlottesville, Va.). Dr. Werner earned his medical degree at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. He completed his residency at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and his fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. His research, which has been published in more than 150 peer-reviewed papers, has been presented nationally more than 250 times and received numerous national awards.
