David Ayers, MD. UMass Memorial Health (Worcester, Mass.). Dr. Ayers earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester (N.Y.) School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y., and his fellowship at Oxford University's Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in England. He chairs the hospital's department of orthopedics and physical rehabilitation medicine and is the director of the Musculoskeletal Center of Excellence.

Sigurd Berven, MD. University of California San Francisco Health. Dr. Berven earned his medical degree from Harvard University Medical School in Boston. He then completed the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program, of which he is the director. He completed his fellowship at the University of California San Francisco. Dr. Berven is regularly invited to speak at national and international conferences about spine surgery techniques and outcomes and the evaluation and management of spinal disorders.

Darrel Brodke, MD. University of Utah Health (Salt Lake City). Dr. Brodke earned his medical degree from the University of California San Francisco. He completed his residency at the University of Wisconsin in Madison and his fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle. He currently chairs the orthopedics department at the University of Utah Health.

Henry Clarke, MD. Mayo Clinic (Phoenix). Dr. Clarke earned his medical degree from the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, N.J. He served as the chief resident of orthopedic surgery at the Mayo Clinic's College of Medicine and Science and in Rochester, Minn., before completing his fellowship at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Dr. Clarke has received several awards, including a clinical research award from the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

Christopher Dougherty, DO. Agility Center Orthopedics (Bentonville, Ark.). Dr. Dougherty received his doctorate degree in osteopathic medicine from Kansas City (Mo.) University. He is the team physician for the Kansas City Royals baseball team and the Northwest Arkansas Naturals minor league baseball team.

David Markel, MD. The CORE Institute (Phoenix). Dr. Markel earned his medical degree and completed his residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He then completed his fellowship at the Hospital For Special Surgery and Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. Dr. Markel is an examiner for the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and is a two-time president and current board member of the Michigan Orthopedic Society.

Charles Moon, MD. Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (Los Angeles). Dr. Moon earned his medical degree from the New York Medical College in Valhalla, N.Y. He completed his residency and fellowship at the Los Angeles County + University of Southern California Medical Center. Dr. Moon has earned numerous awards, including the Wilfred F. Ruggiero Award for Excellence in Surgery from the New York Medical College.

Ahmad Nassr, MD. Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minn.). Dr. Nassr specializes in spine care. He earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He completed his residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago and his fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh (Pa.) Medical Center. He is a program review committee member of the Scoliosis Research Society and a member of the Own the Bone Steering Committee for the American Orthopaedic Association.

J. Brannan Smoot, MD. Texas Orthopedics (Austin). Dr. Smoot earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed his residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. He also completed knee, foot and ankle fellowships in Australia. He is a faculty member at the University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School and is the assistant chief of its orthopedics division.

David Wei, MD.Orthopaedic Neurosurgery Specialists (Greenwich, Conn.). Dr. Wei earned his medical degree from the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. He completed his residency at the NewYork-Presbyterian Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He completed his fellowship at Tufts Medical Center and New England Baptist Hospital in Boston. He was most recently given a rising star award from Castle Connolly.
