Here are five orthopedic surgeons making the news this week:

Leesa Galatz, MD, professor and chair of the department of orthopedic surgery at New York City-based Mount Sinai, spoke to Becker's Spine Review about how her department is supporting front-line healthcare workers treating COVID-19 patients, and how the pandemic will affect hospital revenue. 

William Kurtz II, MD, president of Tennessee Orthopedic Alliance in Nashville, discussed the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic on his practice and his orthopedic support staff.

Hudson Regional Hospital named Robert Kayal, MD, as the chief of the musculoskeletal department.

Tom Pereles, MD, of Shenandoah Valley Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Fishersville, Va., said that some elective surgeries could be postponed until 2021.

Lowry Barnes, MD, began his term as president of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
