Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. James Browne from UVA Health

James Browne, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at UVA Health in Charlottesville, Va.

Dr. Browne serves as vice chair for clinical operations and division head of adult reconstruction in the health system's orthopedic surgery department. He specializes in complex primary and revision hip and knee replacement.

The author of dozens of peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, Dr. Browne researches various aspects of hip and knee replacement. He has delivered presentations on joint replacement around the world.

Best Doctors Inc. recognized Dr. Browne on its Best Doctors in America list from 2015-20. He was also named a Generation Next Emerging Leader in March 2013 by Orthopedics Today.

Dr. Browne graduated from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore before completing a residency at Duke University in Durham, N.C., and a fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
