New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery and the New York Giants extended their sports medicine partnership in a 10-year deal with Scott Rodeo, MD, continuing as team physician and medical director. Dr. Rodeo specializes in sports medicine injuries of the knee, shoulder, ankle and elbow.
Orthopedic surgeon Mark Harlow, MD, was appointed CMO of Oyate Health Center in Rapid City, S.D. Dr. Harlow will supervise the management of the center's clinical operations and act as a liaison between administration and staff.
Birmingham, Ala.-based Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center will open a new clinic in Cullman, Ala., in January with orthopedic surgeon Marcus Rothermich, MD. He specializes in elbow reconstruction, rotator cuff repairs, complex knee surgery and total joint replacement.
James Andrews, MD, of Gulf Breeze, Fla.-based Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, cleared Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale to play again after he was treated for elbow inflammation. Mr. Sales received a platelet-rich plasma injection in August, before a follow-up evaluation in November.
Ian Reynolds, MD, will pay $300,000 to resolve False Claims Act allegations related to OK Compounding. The federal government accused Dr. Reynolds of accepting illegal kickbacks from OK Compounding between April 2013 and September 2015. This is the 12th settlement involving OK Compounding in the past year.
Claude Moorman III, MD, of Charlotte, N.C.-based OrthoCarolina performed knee surgery on Baltimore Ravens center Matt Skura. Dr. Moorman authored more than 150 publications and is a recipient of the Neer Award and the Excellence in Research Award for innovations in shoulder reconstruction.
