Karim Meijer, MD, head orthopedic surgeon for the New Orleans Saints, is leaving his current role to provide care for the Denver Broncos.
As a member of the Broncos team, he will rejoin former Saints head coach Sean Payton and longtime Saints athletic trainer Beau Lowery, according to a Jan. 20 release from Saints Wire.
Dr. Meijer previously played football as a defensive back for the University of Texas Longhorns in Austin before attending medical school.
He was also a surgeon with Elmwood, La.-based Oschner Health Network, specializing in elbow, knee and shoulder issues and regenerative medicine.
