Keith Meister, MD, is set to operate on Kumar Rocker, a pitching prospect for the Texas Rangers.
Mr. Rocker suffered a torn ligament in his right elbow and will need Tommy John surgery to repair the ligament. The injury occurred during a game May 11. He left the game with elbow discomfort.
The surgery will cause Mr. Rocker to miss the remainder of the season. The team has a target date for his return in the second half of the 2024 season.
Dr. Meister is the director of sports medicine at Arlington-based Texas Metroplex Institute for Sports Medicine and is the head team physician for the Rangers.
