Below is a list of 10 orthopedic surgeons who have made a positive impact on their organizations and the profession.

John Irving, MD. Connecticut Orthopaedics (Hamden). Dr. Irving is an orthopedic surgeon at Connecticut Orthopaedics. He specializes in arthritis surgery, total joint replacement and reconstructive surgeries of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee. Dr. Irving also serves as an assistant clinical professor of orthopaedics and rehabilitation at the Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn.

Laura Reese, DO. Ashland (Ky.) Orthopedic Associates. Dr. Reese is an orthopedic surgeon at Ashland Orthopedic Associates. She specializes in hip, knee and shoulder surgeries as well as pediatric orthopedics. Dr. Reese has been in practice for more than 20 years. 

Suleman Hussain, MD. ORA Orthopedics (Bettendorf, Iowa). Dr. Hussain is an orthopedic surgeon at ORA Orthopedics. He specializes in shoulder and knee arthroscopy and reconstruction, hip arthroscopy and robotic joint replacements. Dr. Hussain is a member of the Chicago Medical Society, the American Medical Association and the Illinois State Medical Society.

Earl Kilbride, MD. Austin (Texas) Orthopedic Institute. Dr. Kilbride is an orthopedic surgeon at Austin Orthopedic Institute. He specializes in joint reconstruction and orthopedic trauma. Dr. Kilbride has clinical interests in outpatient total joint surgery, complex knee injuries and traumatic joint injuries. 

Edward Akelman, MD. Rhode Island Hospital (Providence). Dr. Akelman is the chief of the orthopedic department at Rhode Island Hospital. He has research interests in orthopedic education, treatment of Dupuytren’s disease, nerve compression syndromes of the upper extremities, wrist and carpal kinematics and wrist injuries. Erion Qamirani, MD, PhD. Mid-Tennessee Bone and Joint Center (Columbia). Dr. Qamirani is an orthopedic surgeon at Mid-Tennessee Bone and Joint Center. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Orthopedic Trauma Association and the North American Spine Society. Dr. Qamirani has more than 19 years of experience in the field. 

Eric Grossman, MD. Rothman Orthopedic Institute (Philadelphia). Dr. Grossman is an orthopedic surgeon at Rothman Orthopedic Institute. He specializes in hip and knee joint replacement surgery. Dr. Grossman is a member of the Jefferson Orthopaedic Society, the American Medical Association and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

Gregory Maletis, MD. Kaiser Permanente (Oakland, Calif.). Dr. Maletis is an orthopedic surgeon at Kaiser Permanente. He specializes in arthroscopic reconstructive surgery of the knee and shoulder. Dr. Maletis serves as the chief of orthopedics at Baldwin Park Medical Center in Baldwin Park, California.

Guy Paiement, MD. Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (Los Angeles). Dr. Paiement is an orthopedic surgeon at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He specializes in hip and knee replacements as well as orthopedic trauma. Dr. Paiement is also the director of the orthopedic residency training program at the medical center.
