William Kurtz, MD, performed the first case with Conformis' Actera hip system, the devicemaker said Nov. 29.
The hip replacement was done at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tenn., according to a news release. The Actera system has a tri-taper stem design and has a range of sizes and angles.
"Conformis' addition of a tri-taper stem design enables surgeons to treat a broader range of patient anatomies and the shorter length options offer easier access to the femur while maintaining the fixation and integrity required for long term success of the implant," Dr. Kurtz said in the release.
Actera will roll out in a full commercial launch in 2023.
