OmniVision debuts new endoscopy image sensor for orthopedic use

Orthopedic

Digital imaging technology creator OmniVision has debuted its OH02B image sensor for disposable endoscopes.

The sensor is the first 2-megapixel resolution image sensor for orthopedics, gastroenterology, dental procedures and more.

It is available to use with the company's small-form CameraCubeChip package.

OH02B connects the endoscope camera to the camera control unit tower via OmniVision's AntLinx digital interface and is unaffected by noise and electromagnetic interference.

"[Complementary metal-oxide semiconductor] image sensors, such as the OH02B, are critical for the disposableendoscope market because they enable high resolution and small size, generate very low heat at the tip of the scope design, and are cost-effective for one-time use," Richard Yang, senior marketing manager for OmniVision, said in a Nov. 8 press release.
