Guthrie, an orthopedic provider with locations across New York and Pennsylvania, is opening a new orthopedic office in the Elmira-Corning (N.Y.) area, expanding its Guthrie Big Flats Specialties and Rehabilitation Services, according to an Oct. 5 report from the Elmira-Star Gazette.
The new office aims to meet demand in the southern tier of New York for orthopedic cases that do not require emergency attention, according to the report.
"If you've been to the emergency room, sometimes the waits can be very long. We want to be able to provide a service to the community to help patients with orthopedic injuries," Joseph Choi, MD, Guthrie's chair of orthopedics, told the Gazette. "We have X-rays, doctors and nurse practitioners to see patients, along with nurses and office support, so we're fully staffed."
