Texas hospital maintains 'gold seal' for spine surgery

Practice Management

Medical City Fort Worth (Dallas) has been recertified with The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for spine surgery.

A review of the hospital's spine program was conducted in January. The Joint Commission evaluated compliance with standards of care that are developed in consultation with healthcare experts and providers, measurement experts and patients.

"Spine certification recognizes a healthcare organization's commitment to fostering continuous quality improvement in patient safety and quality of care," Mark Pelletier, RN, chief operating officer of accreditation and certifications operations at the commission, said in a March 24 news release.

Mr. Pelletier said he commended the hospital "for using certification to reduce variation in its clinical processes and to strengthen its program structure and management framework for spine patients."
