5 key developments at The Steadman Clinic since it secured PE investment

Practice Management

In November 2019, The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colo., affiliated with private equity-backed Orthopedic Care Partners, which is now the holding company for seven practices across the U.S.

Orthopedics continues to be an attractive investment area for private equity firms due to the high demand for care. Investment offers many benefits to independent practices, including growing their financial strength, better positioning themselves to weather the COVID-19 pandemic and executing future growth plans.

Five key updates at The Steadman Clinic since it secured PE investment, beginning with the most recent:

1. The Steadman Clinic will provide orthopedic care at Dillon (Colo.) Medical Center, a $70 million medical center that is set to finish construction in the fall.

2. John Peloza, MD, is returning to the practice to develop its spine program and add a spine surgery fellowship to the Steadman Philippon Research Institute.

3. The Steadman Clinic opened its Aspen office Dec. 1, which is a joint venture with Aspen (Colo.) Valley Hospital. Jared Lee, MD, serves as medical director.

4. In September, the practice partnered with Aspen Valley Hospital to combine their orthopedic programs and develop a $15 million ASC with four operating rooms in Basalt.

5. The Steadman Philippon Research Institute in Vail received a grant from the National Institutes of Health to study the use of bone marrow stem cells to delay osteoarthritis in the knee.
