Steadman Philippon Research Institute focuses on new testing methods for COVID-19

Practice Management

Scientists at the Steadman Philippon Research Institute in Vail, Colo., are focusing on developing a quicker and more efficient way to test people for the novel coronavirus.

According to SPRI — the research arm of The Steadman Clinic — there is a growing number of COVID-19 patients who are asymptomatic. To address this, the facility is working to create a testing method for people who do not know they've contracted the illness.

"Those people unwittingly are the real problem because they think they are healthy and are not," said Johnny Huard, PhD, chief scientific officer at SPRI. "We want to be able to test people before they show any symptoms and do what we can to deter the spread of the virus."
