15 new COVID-19 cases linked to orthopedic practice in Alaska

Fairbanks, Alaska, recently saw a significant spike in new COVID-19 cases, according to the Anchorage Daily News.

Epidemiologists on March 29 linked 15 COVID-19 cases to McKinley Orthopedic and Sports Medicine and ATI Physical Therapy, which share a building in Fairbanks.

Several orthopedic physicians were exposed to the virus after performing a procedure on a COVID-19 patient at MOSM, according to Anchorage Daily News.

State officials said the known exposures occurred from March 9 until March 19.

Both practices agreed to close through April 2, which will reach the recommended quarantine time of 14 days after the last exposure.
