OrthoPediatrics' scoliosis system exceeds 500 cases: 4 notes

Spinal Tech

More than 500 procedures have been performed with OrthoPediatrics' ApiFix technology, designed for the treatment of progressive adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.

Four notes:

1. The cases were performed in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia and Israel. Long-term clinical follow-up of ApiFix has surpassed nine years, according to a March 23 news release.

2. Surgeons can use ApiFix to permanently correct curvature of the spine and retain spinal flexibility, the company said. The device is used as an alternative to spinal fusion.

3. OrthoPediatrics has recruited 20 U.S. centers to submit data on ApiFix for a study that will evaluate the safety and potential benefit of the procedure.

4. OrthoPediatrics secured the rights to the technology after its acquisition of ApiFix in April 2020.
