Virtual reality company PrecisionOS and Zimmer Biomet will showcase their immersive reality project surrounding the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons' Innovation Series on March 18.

The webinar program will provide a live simulated operating room experience using PrecisionOS technology. Attendees will be shown how the platform facilitates surgical training.

The innovation series centers on new technologies such as  augmented reality, mixed reality and virtual reality.

"Together with PrecisionOS, the AAOS is demonstrating how new technologies are enhancing surgical techniques, while inspiring real-time discussion, questions and conversations in a virtual training environment," Daniel Guy, MD, the academy's first vice president, said in a March 3 news release.

Orthopedic surgeon Danny Goel, MD, is founder and CEO of PrecisionOS, which develops VR education modules and deploys them to institutions that train surgeons.

The platform includes modules in spine surgery, joint reconstruction, upper extremity and robotics.
