Marc Buntaine on July 7 was appointed CEO of Synaptive Medical, a Toronto-based company that develops robotic surgical devices.

With more than 25 years of experience in the medical device industry, Mr. Buntaine's resume includes roles as executive vice president of sales and marketing for Mobius Imaging and vice president of sales for Stryker's Airo TruCT imaging system.

In October, the company launched the Modus V digital microscope for spine and neurosurgery.

The device features a robotic arm that helps surgeons guide surgical tools during surgery and shows the patient's anatomy on a monitor in real time.
