SurGenTec received FDA clearance for its Alara neuro access needle kit.

Four things to know:

1. Alara is a neurostimulation device used for targeting and assisting in cannulating a pedicle.

2. It features an insulated depth stop that enables surgeons to choose the needle depth before advancing into the pedicle.

3. Alara can be electrically stimulated to calculate proximity to the peripheral nerve root, helping the surgeon to determine a safe trajectory. The added safety check provides a barrier to help avoid nerve injury.

4. Alara will be featured at the North American Spine Society Annual Meeting in Chicago from Sept. 25 to 28.
