New Hampshire health system installs robot for spinal surgeries — 3 things to know

Spinal Tech

Lebanon, N.H.-based Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center installed Medtronic's Mazor X System for complex spinal procedures, reports HIT Infrastructure.

Three things to know:

1. Mazor X is designed for precise positioning of surgical instruments or spinal implants during spine and brain surgery.

2. The device is a multifunctional robotic arm that allows physicians to take a preoperative CT scan of the patient's spine and maps the patient's anatomy, showing the surgeons where to insert screws.

3. Mazor X guides the surgical arm into position and translates the surgical plan to trajectory guidance during surgery.
