Ossifix Orthopedics to launch demineralized bone matrix

Biologics

Ossifix Orthopedics will launch its demineralized bone matrix, made from 100 percent human bone tissue in August.

The product, Crunch, doesn't have any carrier or filler additives and is designed to resist washing away or straying from surgical sites, according to a July 19 news release.

"Our newly launched crunch contains cancellous bone fragments within the crunch to provide the osteoconductive scaffolding to promote new bone growth," Ossifix CEO Mark Estrada said in the release. "Healthcare practitioners can choose to add fresh marrow aspirate or allograft from the patient to promote further osteogenesis."

Ossifix is a subsidiary of Umbra Applied Technologies Group and is based in Austin.
