Dr. Adam Crowl 1st to implant latest bone graft to hit the market — 3 things to know

Richmond-based OrthoVirginia's Adam Crowl, MD, performed the first spinal fusion in clinic with the ViBone Moldable cell bone matrix, according to a Jan. 12 news release.

Three things to know:

1. ViBone was designed by Aziyo Biologics to protect native bone cells and promote bone growth. It features cancellous bone particles as well as demineralized cortical bone fibers and particles.

2. In November, Aziyo Biologics agreed to provide spine device company Surgalign Holdings with ViBone for distribution in the U.S., where the product is now commercially available.

3. Dr. Crowl is chair of the department of orthopedics at Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center in Midlothian, Va.
