Dr. Melissa Carpenter becomes ElevateBio's chief scientific officer of regenerative medicine

ElevateBio appointed Melissa Carpenter, PhD, as chief scientific officer of regenerative medicine Dec. 9.

Four things to know:

1. Dr. Carpenter will aim to forge partnerships with developers of stem-cell based regenerative therapies to expand ElevateBio's portfolio of companies.

2. She was named as inventor on 34 issued U.S. patents and more than 50 peer reviewed publications in the stem cell field.

3. Most recently, Dr. Carpenter was vice president of research and development at NovoCell, where she brought stem cell research programs to preclinical development.

4. She has more than 25 years of experience in the development of cell therapies using human adult and pluripotent stem cells.
